I am Miss Watkins and I am the Design and Technology lead at Clockhouse. I love inspiring children to be creators of the future, and to realise that every invention has started somewhere, no matter how big or how small. I want children to understand that everything they know was once someone’s idea, and that person worked hard to bring it to life.
The Design and Technology curriculum at Clockhouse Primary School aims to promote a love of not just making, but also the process that all products go through during the manufacturing process. The future of design and technology at Clockhouse Primary school is to build an understanding of how something is made, why it is made and the purposes that it serves. Children discover a variety of materials, skills, and engineering styles to help develop their own designs and products which will have a clear purpose.
Cooking and nutrition is a key aspect of the Design and Technology curriculum and a vital life skill. At Clockhouse Primary School, the children develop an understanding of nutrition, where food is sourced and healthy eating.
In Design and Technology at Clockhouse we make all kinds of things. This includes making pencil cases, designing and baking our own bread recipes and building bird houses!
